We’ve organised a hang out on Saturday night with @wookiesinthewoods and @fcpeuro at the Pit Stop / Dam Garage - starting immediately after the charity raffle ends, and open late until 11pm.

We’ll have music playing, the gas station will be selling food and drinks, and there’s good lighting for photos, and.. it’s easy walking distance from the Fontana WITW resort.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There’s limited parking, so please consider walking down even if it’s just from the baseball field (where the fire pit will be burning until late also!), and please don’t block any roads. And for the love of everything, please don’t drink alcohol and drive.

Big thanks to the local crew that came out with a snow ploy and chain saw. Seemed like they’ve done this a few times before.

The 3.2L VR6 engine was rebuilt and assembled by Schimmel @spturbo with @techtonics.tuning camshafts to otherwise OEM+ specs, and feels amazing. @plyn_arnd at @thesuspensionsource installed the drivetrain with new flywheel etc.

We’ve been pushing pretty hard on the road to make up for delays this morning, and the fuel consumption is wayyyy better than the RS3 (it’s the 5cyl with 500hp…), and better even than the Mk8 Golf R 2.0T. Which is wild as the Mk4 is running 3-4,000rpm in 6th gear (theoretically… for information purposes only).

Oh, and the car just passed 108,000 miles total (173,800km) 🥰

It’s a 700 mile drive to the WITW village, near the Tail of the Dragon Road in Tennessee/North Carolina.

But tonight we’ll start at @millteksport in Knoxville, then lots of driving more, then the big charity auction on Saturday afternoon, and then.. on Saturday evening we’re hosting a small gathering at the gas station in Fontana - all are welcome ❤️

337 Edition. America’s version of the 25th Golf GTI anniversary. I’ve owned this car since 2004, and it’s still one of my favourites. It’s named after the EA337 internal code at VW.

1,500 were made, all silver, all with cloth @recaroautomotive seats, 18” @bbs.wheels in special shot peened finish, and the first GTi here with the 6 speed manual transmission.

Mine’s 99% original - with @fcpeuro the original suspension was switched to a set of @bilsteinus shocks, and there’s a set of all-season @delintetires D7 tires instead of the original summer tires.

Today’s the first time it’s been fully registered and inspected since 2017, and it’s so much fun driving it again 🥰🥰🥰

The UK got Polo Harlequins back in 1995/6, and still get the (normally painted) Polos now.. but maybe it’s something else like an ID.3 or socks like @volkswagenmexico released or maybe it’s a early start to April Fools and it’ll be a scale model released on April 1st ? 🤣

The VW Touareg was launched 20 years ago in the USA in 2004. This is my 2005 V8 which is the next car I’m dropping off for the annual Pennsylvania State Safety Inspection.

I’ve driven it about 100,000 miles - I bought it with 75k many years ago - and it’s getting a lot of work this year. Headliner and sunroof drains are in progress. Tires are done, timing belt is done - and control arms are next.

Anyone else rocking the T1 still? Maybe even as a daily driver!?

Held at the Sandown Park Horse race track each year, this show has been going for many years and has some super top end aircooled VWs. This year there was also a fun PVW display with older watercooled cars outside. Thanks to @volksworldmagazine and @pvw_mag for the hospitality and hangs.
