Street’s closed Wookie boy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Full size trees and lots of debris all over the Tail of the Dragon and Hellbender roads in the cold rain tonight, in the build up to @wookiesinthewoods ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Big thanks to the local crew that came out with a snow ploy and chain saw. Seemed like they’ve done this a few times before.

Average price of premium gasoline has been around $4.00 US US Gal / €0.97 L / £0.83 L / R19.6 L ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The 3.2L VR6 engine was rebuilt and assembled by Schimmel @spturbo with @techtonics.tuning camshafts to otherwise OEM+ specs, and feels amazing. @plyn_arnd at @thesuspensionsource installed the drivetrain with new flywheel etc. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We’ve been pushing pretty hard on the road to make up for delays this morning, and the fuel consumption is wayyyy better than the RS3 (it’s the 5cyl with 500hp…), and better even than the Mk8 Golf R 2.0T. 337 Edition. America’s version of the 25th Golf 337 Edition. America’s version of the 25th Golf GTI anniversary. I’ve owned this car since 2004, and it’s still one of my favourites. It’s named after the EA337 internal code at VW. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1,500 were made, all silver, all with cloth @recaroautomotive seats, 18” @bbs.wheels in special shot peened finish, and the first GTi here with the 6 speed manual transmission. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mine’s 99% original - with @fcpeuro the original suspension was switched to a set of @bilsteinus shocks, and there’s a set of all-season @delintetires D7 tires instead of the original summer tires. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today’s the first time it’s been fully registered and inspected since 2017, and it’s so much fun driving it again 🥰🥰🥰

We did something like 15,000 miles in 3 weeks, on roads with near infinite potential holes, 1000s of miles of gravel, and up to about 16,000 feet above sea level. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The tires were Delinte D7 all-seasons - I put the same on a lot of projects since then - , and the turbo was HPA’s then brand new IS38 Hybrid, then making 400hp, but has now spawned 500hp versions. Would 1,000 other people really do it? REALLY? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Not a GTI. Not cheaper than equivalent models. Just a nice simple specification car like the originals. The VW Touareg was launched 20 years ago in the US The VW Touareg was launched 20 years ago in the USA in 2004. This is my 2005 V8 which is the next car I’m dropping off for the annual Pennsylvania State Safety Inspection. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve driven it about 100,000 miles - I bought it with 75k many years ago - and it’s getting a lot of work this year. Headliner and sunroof drains are in progress. Tires are done, timing belt is done - and control arms are next. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Anyone else rocking the T1 still? Maybe even as a daily driver!?
